MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES AND TRILLIONAIRES

76

By sheila b.

Who are the trillionaires, you ask?

The President and Congress, don't you think?

No, it's not their money, they haven't earned it, but they sure are spending it!

Warren Buffett, though, is a billionaire. And he says millionaires and billionaires should pay more taxes. Everybody earning more than two hundred thousand a year should pay more taxes.

Well, you see, the more money you have, the more accountants you hire, and they find all sorts of tax loopholes and deductions for you. So when you're a billionaire like Warren Buffett, you don't pay your "fair share" because you know how to play the system.

See, it's the middle class, those people earning that two hundred thousand or five hundred thousand a year who are really going to pay the higher taxes if Warren Buffett and the President have their way.

In fact, ninety percent of the taxpayers who will have to pay more are NOT millionaires.

Most of them own a business, and that's how they earn a nice salary.

So what's going to happen when they have to pay more taxes?

Charge more for their goods or services, of course! We all know that.

So who gets hurt by raising these taxes on so-called millionaires?

Ultimately, the customer. And again, that's the middle class who will feel it.

Let's look at the truth - real millionaires wouldn't be partying with Obama, contributing to Obama's reelection campaign, and signing petitions begging 'raise our taxes!' if they really thought they'd be paying more. They didn't get to be millionaires and billionaires by paying high taxes.

And then there's George Soros, the go-to guy for all things economic.

Remember his Bretton Woods Conference this past April? It was all about achieving a global economy.

In an op-ed published in 2009, Soros called for "a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order".

Socialism, Communism, Marxism, whatever you want to call it, is designed to eradicate the middle class. And that's what this is all about.

Who can really comprehend a budget in the trillions? No one,.

Guess how much space you would need to store one million pennies.

Answer - a full-size refrigerator.

So how many refrigerators would we need to store one trillion pennies?

Another example of a million: One million seconds is a little over eleven days!

And the President and Congress spend trillions!!

Lastly, have you heard their silence on waste and fraud? A GAO audit found almost one half of all purchases on government credit cards are improper or fraudulent.

Pentagon cost overruns come to two hundred ninety-three billion.

Health care fraud is estimated to be sixty billion a year.

Federal employee flight upgrades cost one hundred forty-six million a year.

The National Science Foundation spends twenty-six million dollars a year on rent. And four hundred fifty million for research in Antarctica and the Arctic.

The list could go on and on. The fairy and frog sculpture for a govermnent building, HHS spending five hundred million to figure out how to make children sit still.

Waste and fraud - and all we hear is it's a drop in the bucket compared to what we spend.

Add it all up, though, and it's a good start to reduce spending, isn't it?

But no, we have a committee to work it all out now. All they have to do is compromise, right?

It seems the President isn't happy with the deal they all made about raising the debt limit. He doesn't think there was enough compromise.

Well, it seems there were three objectives: whether to raise the debt ceiling, whether to raise taxes, and whether Congress and the President should cut spending.

One side wanted to raise the debt ceiling and raise taxes. The other side didn't.

The debt ceiling was raised.

Taxes were not raised.

Looks like a compromise to me.

It must be that part about cutting the spending the President doesn't like. What is it, some millions cut? With spending in the trillions? And they all act as though it's a 'big deal', no matter which side they're on.

Have you watched prices go up and up and up the last few years? And paid those prices, because what choice do we have?

The middle-class is being squeezed. Quality of life is going down. There haven't been many raises in the workplace these past few years, and nobody's complaing because they just want to keep their jobs, so the middle class isn't earning more but they're paying more.

If the millionaires and billionaires want to pay more taxes, fine, they can make a donation to the government. But they won't. That's not their objective. They just want taxes raised for small business owners.

The middle-class is under attack. And called names for fighting back.

Yes, it's class warfare, but not the rich against the poor. It's the rich wanting to destroy the middle class. We are soooo bothersome with SUV's filling the roadways and vacations to the millionaires and billionaires favorite places. We are in their way. We annoy them.

I completely agree with your hub. It is the middle class that will be hurt again. If Bill Gates and others want to pay more taxes, write the government a check! They have so much money that they will still be filthy rich, unlike you small business owners who make $200,000 before business expenses. Rated up and awesome.

Right on the money (no pun intended). The middle class will bear the brunt of all these revenue increases. Calling them revenue increases doesn't mask the fact that we are talking about taxes going up to pay for out of control spending. Up and awesome.

Sheila, you've got the approach nailed here voted you up. We have a president halfast, in a Canadian bus on tour for the US economy, we don't build buses? Then it's off to two weeks vacation before he releases his plan? He doesn't have one. The committee needs two weeks to make one, why note dash the committee and call our elected congress back to work?

Look very close, in two weeks our new Oligarchy a group pulling the strings of the dead head president will finally be produced right in front of our eyes and no one noticed? BAD MOON RISING, George Sorros is winning and taking the lazy blind Americans who support the thief in office, what a surprise, welcome to Rome as it fell, 50

I think if we got rid of all the agencies that are not in line with the constitution we would get the budget under control.

I think you are taking the stance popular with the TEA party and most Republicans which is any tax increase is bad. The Stance from most moderates are that the tax code is unfair and needs to be simplified and re-worked. Using your warren buffet example, he only pays capital gains taxes of 15% and doesn't pay federal income tax. His secretary pays 25% taxes and probably makes around 70k or so. Doesn't make sense and anyone that doesn't support closing these loopholes is simply being non-sensical. As a side note, Warren buffet is the 2nd - 3rd richest person in America and he receives social security. Making sensible changes to the tax code will not hurt middle class americans.

On to cutting spending, terrific points you make. Remember, spending cuts have to be agreed on by congress, this is not on Obama's shoulders. Spending comes from congress, spending cuts come from congress. They approve, rewrite the budget, etc. Ask your congress person if there is wasteful spending. They will certainly say yes. Then ask them what wasteful spending will they cut in their district. See how long they stutter.

Great Hub! How interesting that Warren Buffett says he doesn't pay enough taxes. Does he not know that we all know he can send in check for a billion anytime he wants?

You wrote: "In fact, ninety percent of the taxpayers who will have to pay more are NOT millionaires. Most of them own a business, and that's how they earn a nice salary."

You are so right. And what the "soak the rich" crowd forgets is that many of these people worked eighty hours a week, living in a garage, for years making maybe $20K before they finally started making big money. And chances are that one day their salary will be greatly reduced.

I found this shocking:

"A GAO audit found almost one half of all purchases on government credit cards are improper or fraudulent."

Any thinking person would process that and decide: "The federal government has to be shrunk so it does as little damage as possible."

You are brilliant! Thank you.
