IS HYUNDAI A GOOD CAR?

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

IF YOU WANT A CAR WHICH WILL START EVERY MORNING, A HYUNDAI WILL SUIT YOUR NEEDS.

IF YOU WANT A CAR YOU CAN KEEP FOR YEARS AND YEARS AFTER YOU'VE PAID FOR IT, A HYUNDAI IS A GOOD CHOICE.

AND IF YOU WANT GOOD GAS MILEAGE, A HYUNDAI IS RIGHT UP THERE.

A HYUNDAI WON'T IMPRESS THE NEIGHBORS, SO IF YOU DEFINE YOURSELF BY THE CAR YOU DRIVE, A HYUNDAI ISN'T FOR YOU.

A HYUNDAI IS THE CAR YOU WANT TO BUY IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE VEHICLE TO GET YOU TO WORK AND BACK HOME EVEY DAY.

MY HYUNDAI GETS 40 MILES TO THE GALLON ON THE HIGHWAY, AND 32 MILES PER GALLON IF I'M DRIVING FROM ONE RED STOPLIGHT TO ANOTHER AROUND TOWN, WITH STOP SIGNS ON EVERY RESIDENTIAL BLOCK.

WHO WOULD BE WELL-ADVISED TO BUY A HYUNDAI?

SOMEONE WHO SEES THE NEXT TEN YEARS AS ONES WITH BIG EXPENSES.

A PRACTICAL YOUNG COUPLE WHO WANT TO SAVE FOR A HOUSE AND THEN HAVE THEIR CHILDREN, AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CAR, PAY IT OFF, AND LIVE WITHOUT CAR PAYMENTS FOR A WHILE, SHOULD CONSIDER A HYUNDAI.

LIKEWISE, A COUPLE EXPECTING TO HELP THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH COLLEGE AND DON'T WANT TO BE PAYING CAR PAYMENTS AS WELL, SHOULD CONSIDER A HYUNDAI.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH HYUNDAI CARS IS HAVING A CAR WITH NO BIG REPAIR BILLS FOR THE FIRST TEN YEARS.

I'VE HAD THREE HYUNDAIS NOW, AND EVERY ONE OF THEM HAS LASTED FOR TEN YEARS NEEDING NO LARGE REPAIRS. IT'S BEEN GREAT. HYUNDAI ISN'T A CAR TO IMPRESS ANYONE WITH, BUT IT SURE IS RELIABLE AND IT'S BEEN NICE NOT PAYING CAR PAYMENTS ALL OF MY LIFE.

HYUNDAI IS A PRACTICAL CAR FOR PRACTICAL PEOPLE.

GREAT GAS MILEAGE.

RELIABLE.

WILL LAST FOR A LONG TIME.

IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT IN A CAR, A HYUNDAI IS A GOOD CHOICE.

Concise and clear Hub. May we suggest that you use lower case as well as capital letters - it would make your Hub easier to read. Good content though.

Interesting hub, sheila. I never thought about buying a hyundai and I can't buy a car that I can't spell!

Good Hub -- seems Hyundai has definitely made some good improvements over recent years -- I can remember when they weren't nearly as dependable as they are now. Thanks for the heads-up! Best, Sis

How could you have owned three Hyundai's each for ten years (30 years total) when the company hasn't been selling in the US for that long?

Author's note: I didn't buy any of my Hyundais new. The first one I had might have been about 6 years old when I bought it. I'd been in an accident and needed to get a car quickly so I bought the used Hyundai, planning to drive it until I found something else. So there I was with a car I'd bought for a song, one that started in the freezing northern New England temperatures and got great mileage. So I just kept it. When it finally needed costly repair, another Hyundai popped up and I traded. This last one I still have was 2 or 3 years old when I bought it, a one-owner car.

It seems to me Hyundais don't have a good resale value because I was able to buy it for a few thousand cash and I've had it these many years - so great not to have car payments! At just about 10 years old I had to put fifteen hundred dollars into getting it in fine condition, and since then I've had some minor work done, a few hundred dollars.

So - as I was hoping to convey with this article, I find a Hyundai reliable and a good buy if a person wants to purchase a car and keep it for many years.

I purchased a 2006 Azera and absolutely love it. It is a gem for what I paid for it. I hope to buy a new one in the next couple of years.

I have the Hyundai Tiburon and i'm not sure if I was ripped off but it is a 2004 and I bought it in 2008 and everything decided to go on it at once. All the fuses blew and keep blowing out new fuses and lights, the power windows jammed, service lights on for no reason in the car and the manual transmission slips.

am considering getting a used tiburon to use for 2-3 years and was looking on feedback with regards to hyundai reliability - then i found about this page...

the author's reply to "mass" is a little incomplete though - there is no mention on how long she actually had and used each car. the part about selling when it needed costly repair doesn't help promoting the reliability to me :p
